Halloween '17: Sunday Funnies Halloween Edition

As I blog this, Sunday is mere hour from being over. All Hallows' Eve is a mere two days away. Know what that means? Halloween-themed comic strips in today's Sunday Comics. Ergo, I am going to what I did this New Year's and do a run-down on select comic strips from today's comics. Will stick to the strips with a Halloween or Fall flavor.

Spoliers - if you haven't read today's, 10/29/2017, strips and desire not to know the details...

For Better or For Worse - Brings back memories of being the older sibling 'too old and mature' to trick-or-treating. Punch line is the final panel when Michael decides to wear an impromptu mask.

Zits - Not a Halloween comic strip per se but it does a good job of reflecting packing up summer things in preparation of Fall/Winter. Then the strip becomes about saving objects for Jeremy once he gets his own place. Jeremy, of course, has other plans.

Garfield - While no one's wearing a costume on panel, there's references to dressing up for a date. The reader is left to wonder what Jon's wearing so the context isn't as defined. I choose to see a Halloween costume. Haha!

Hi and Lois - The parents are dressed as Superman and Wonder Woman for a Halloween costume. Role reversal ensues!

Peanuts - Woodstock gingerly tries to navigate leaping from branch to branch. And fails. Fortunately, Snoopy to his chagrin breaks Woodstock's fall.

Wizard of Id - The Wizard pops out from strange places shouting 'Boo!' and scaring people. Even scares his jailer at the end.

Sally Forth - A kid pre-games his candy run at the Forth's home only to discover Ted's not there. The ensuing Baby Boomer rant about 'kids these days' is really much, much funnier than my summary can do justice.

B.C. - One of the character runs to and fro as he's scared by a pair of eyes and a canine. A *ahem* prehistoric version of those who watch scary movies for fun during Halloween time.

Dustin - Dustin cons a kid into helping him rake leaves. Excellent two panel strip.

Rose is Rose - Jimbo Gumbo gets an autographed pumpkin and a selfie with a famous pumpkin juggler whom meanwhile tries to squeeze more money out of Jimbo.

Foxtrot - The hijinks when the two kids go trick-or-treating as zombies while trying to pass themselves off as a real zombies only to be one-upped by a biology professor.

And there you have it, today's Fall/Halloween-themed Sunday comics! Once again, I enjoyed blogging about the latest edition of the Sunday funnies. Meant to do this more often this year, but the best laid plans of mice and men. Might do a 'best of' for each month before the end of the year. We'll see.

Next time.
